5 Ways to Display Vintage Valentines

January 18, 2022 by thevettelfarm

I can still remember the excitement of making my Valentine’s Day box each year and even better was when you got to open all of your valentines from friends! The valentines of yesteryear are so darling, chalk full of charming graphics, witty sayings and bright colors. So what is the best way to display these vintage beauties? This is the first of two posts that I will share with a few fun ideas to display your vintage valentines for all to see and enjoy.

1. Vintage Valentine Wreath

This project could not be more simple. Take a wreath, preferably one that is red, pink, or white and use small clothespins to afix your vintage valentines to the wreath. This wreath was extra special with the glittered pink color!

2. Vintage Valentine Garland

Similar concept here. Use vintage valentines for an easy garland with any style cording. Rafia and baker’s twine are my favorite and then I use tiny cloths pins to attach my favorite valentines. This year I’m updating my garland to all vintage Whitney made valentines.

3. Display Vintage Valentines with Flower Frogs

Not only is this a great trick for Valentines, you can display any type of postcard with a flower frog too! Use a sturdy valentine and tuck it into the spikes of a vintage flower frog.

4. Window Hanging Valentines

This is such an easy way to display a whole bunch of valentines. I used a screen to display mine, but a window or window frame would work great too! I simply attached small nails on each side and strung a piece of twine. I used mini clothespins to attach my favorite Whitney valentines.

5. Vintage Valentine Glass Tray

Display your Valentines in a glass tray or a glass frame. Pictured here I am using a frame as a tray! This idea is wonderful for valentines that are a keepsake. It would be so neat to add a vintage hankie or a piece of lace that was a symbol of someone.

Stay tuned for part two for 5 More Ways to display vintage valentines!

And now say a prayer! 🙏🏻 I FINALLY got the w And now say a prayer! 🙏🏻 I FINALLY got the wildflowers planted around the schoolhouse today. I used a combination of wildflower seeds, sand and vermiculite to spread around the raked dirt areas. The rain the next few days should help sow them in. I used a straw blanket to help protect the seeds from birds (I plan to add more).

Will it work? Follow along to find out! 🌸🌺🌻

Still one of my favorite projects EVER! And yes ev Still one of my favorite projects EVER! And yes every antique lamp I come across I want to transform into a planter. There are just so many out there looking for a new purpose! 🛋️

To create this planter, make sure to hunt for lamps that have components to hold the hanging basket. This lamp had 4 smaller light components that made it perfect to carry the weight of the basket.

Vintage Frames + Strong Magnets = A Beautiful GIFT for anyone to enjoy! 💗💗💗💗

When I tell you I dragged my feet on this project When I tell you I dragged my feet on this project forever, I truly did. I could not wrap my brain around how to get the back off of a watch, but it is so darn easy! This project literally took me 10 minutes.

So a few notes, to take the back off of a watch,it’s very simple. You’re going to put a small amount of hot glue on the back of the watch and then glue on a wooden pencil. Let it dry then you’re going to simply twist and it will pop right off. When you’re ready to put the back on the watch, simply peel the glue off and pop it back on.

The other gadget that made this project so simple was the Polaroid printer that I have. I simply took a picture of an existing picture, printed it, and then cut it out by tracing the back of the watch.

The photo itself slips right in front of the watch mechanism so you don’t even have to take anything out if you wanted to keep the watch itself intact.

I chose to do my mom and both of my grandma’s and I cannot tell you how happy this project makes me feel to see their smiling faces. 💗💗💗💗

Comment PRINTER and I’ll send you the link of the Polaroid printer that I used! Don’t forget to look at that jewelry table at the next garage sale you’re at for those fancy vintage watches!
