Best Halloween Sweatshirts of 2022

September 4, 2022 by thevettelfarm

It is currently 100 degrees in North Dakota, so I am hoping by sharing this blog post it may give Mother Nature the hint to cool down because I am ready for sweatshirt season! My uniform every Fall is cozy socks, leggings and a crew neck sweatshirt with adorable Fall and Halloween graphics. It is my favorite decorating get-up and each year I treat myself to a new sweatshirt! This year I really focused on vintage inspired graphics because those are always the ones that make me so happy! All of these are from small shops, so you are celebrating Fall and supporting a small business all in one click! I always love to ask everyone what their guess is for which one I am bringing home this ...

Best Neutral Fall Stems

August 27, 2022 by thevettelfarm

Growing up in New York, I had the distinct opportunity to live where Fall is absolutely breathtaking. I remember raking leaves was my favorite because my Mom and Dad would always let me jump in the massive piles. The colors of the leaves were magical and the cool, crisp air of the Northeast was the best. Living on the prairies of North Dakota now, I always strive to recreate this Fall feeling with wonderful faux stems. There are so many exceptional options this year in an array of those muted Fall colors we all love and adore. Tap the photo below of each stem to shop! These stems from Hobby Lobby are in my top two favorites, as are these very popular fig stems you can find here! The ...

Harvest Wreath DIY

November 16, 2021 by thevettelfarm

I have always wanted to make a harvest wreath using Indian corn. Our grocery stores always carry this during Fall and the colors are just spectacular. Mr. Vettel said that I can harvest all the corn kernels and grown my own Indian corn next summer too! Supplies needed: - Indian Corn (you can order online here) - Grapevine Wreath (I used this one) - Glue Gun (I have had great success with this one!) Directions With your grapevine wreath on a flat surface, arrange your corn in the desired pattern. I used six large and 24 small ears, with a 1-4-1-4 pattern. With the glue gun put a substantial amount of hot glue on the ear of corn and attach to the wreath. Hold for a few ...

Amber Glass for Fall Decor

September 16, 2021 by thevettelfarm

Fall is the opportune time to bring out all of the amber glass bottles. The warm glow of amber glass lends itself to the cool, crisp days of Fall. The beautiful rust tones paired with fall leaves is a winning combination. Here is a short history of how these amber glass bottles came into the spotlight, where to find them, and how to style them for the seasons. History of Amber Glass Amber glass is a pale yellow glass that is tinted with sulfur and iron-oxide to give it that red-orange color. As early as the 16th century, amber glass was used for medicine bottles and chemicals to prevent deterioration. It is for this reason that amber glass bottles are still used for beer, certain ...

September 3, 2020 by thevettelfarm

It's September, the start to one of my favorite seasons of all - FALL! We are back in the swing of school and I've got to say we are BUSY! But never too busy to make a batch of homemade apple juice! I am so lucky that I have access to the BEST apple tree in all of North Dakota. It sits in the yard of my brother-in-law's old house. How can you not love Fall, the cool, crisp fall temps, apples, pumpkin spice, fall colors, leaves, and Halloween just around the corner, I couldn’t ask for anything more amazing. I turned a collection of vintage watches into something they were always meant to hold, a story. Each tiny face now carries a photo of my Mom or my Grandmas, like little time capsules I can wear all the time.

Because time doesn’t just pass… it becomes us.
And this Mother’s Day, I wanted to give something that says you’re with me in every second.

A gift made of seconds, memories, and the women who shaped mine.

This may be one of my top favorite wreaths of all This may be one of my top favorite wreaths of all time. I find these exquisite oval, antique frames often and they are such a simple way to create a beautiful entrance at your front door. I use a small amount of floral wire to affix faux florals and a mini bird’s nest for Spring.

I think it would be fun to redesign this one for summer with lots of red, white, and blue! 🇺🇸
