March has flown by! March for many is a time to start thinking about Spring, but for us North Dakotans Spring is oftentimes still a few weeks away! Nonetheless, I still start to dream about spring by adding in fun elements of spring decor. And let’s not forget the great holiday of St. Patrick’s Day! I am very Irish, so this is often a holiday I don’t forget! Here are a few items to add to your hunting list. I am patiently counting down the days until I get to start my garage sale sprees and flea market trips!
Garden Tools
Garden tools have so much wonderful character. Just the sight of them gets me excited for the blooming garden on the horizon. I love to bring these tools inside during Spring to display them because the stories they share are so spectacular! Oftentimes these make their way outside in the summer months to put in their work in the garden too.
Terracotta Pots
There is just something so special about that aged terracotta color. I think its the warm, earthy tones that makes you yearn for warmer temperatures and the sounds of Spring. These are another piece that I use indoors and outdoors. I especially love terracotta pots that have age or chippy paint! One of my all time favorite garage sale finds were these chippy pots in the FREE pile!
St. Patrick’s Day Decor
Like I said, I am a big St. Patrick’s Day fan, so any vintage St. Patrick’s Day is always on my hunt list. For many holidays, I love a good postcard. St. Patrick’s Day post cards were such a fun way to spread Irish cheer back in the day and I love reading the age old stories on each one.
Anything with a CLOVER!
I was an avid 4-H member in my younger days, so this 4-H gallery wall is one of my favorites of all time! Clovers are really everywhere if you start to look. You may not want to collect 4-H items, but a four leaf clover never hurt anyone in the long run!
Jadeite
I don’t think we have mentioned this yet, but what a better month to start your collection of jadeite. I will be starting a series on the various types of jadeite on the blog soon, so stay tuned for that! I share a few tips in this blog post about reproduction jadeite, which is just as fun to hunt for as its vintage counterparts.
Baskets
Baskets can be used in decor all throughout the Spring and Summer months. Picnic baskets, small baskets, and colorful baskets all have a place in spring decor. They can be filled with flowers, eggs, potatoes, bunnies, carrots, the opportunities are endless!
Cloches
Springtime is always the time when I bring out my cloches. Tucking small nest or eggs into them is such a whimsical touch for Spring. Cloches come in all sizes and shapes. I love accenting mine with a jadeite plate on the bottom or a piece of architectural salvage.
I hope your month has had a great start and I can’t wait to share more Spring inspired treasures to hunt for during the month of April! May the luck of the Irish bring you some much needed charm during your flea market, thriftng, garage sale, auction, estate sale hunting adventures!
