Each year my girls and I celebrate Valentine’s Day with a small breakfast or lunch with just us gals. In the past we have done mini pancakes, donuts, fruit arrows and this year the request was for BAGELS! There is nothing more that we love than a good everything bagel. What could be more perfect, because these little girls are truly my everything!
The Table
The table this year centered on nothing more than the bagel! I used the adorable mini jadeite cake stands from the Magnolia line on top of a vintage Alice jadeite plate. Add a vintage tablecloth and a few vintage napkins and it’s a party! I also incorporated my favorite jadeite reproduction pieces too, you can find out more about those here.
The Food
To add a little pizazz to the party, we made three different types of toppings for our everything bagels! We had cinnamon-sugar butter, strawberry cream cheese, and honey pecan cream cheese. We also included a simple fruit salad and fresh raspberry lemonade. As the girls were eating the fruit salad, my oldest asked, “Mom, why does fruit taste so much better when it’s all mixed together?” It truly does create a magical combination when you combine them all together, right?!?!
Here are the simple recipes for our toppings:
Cinnamon-Sugar Butter
Mix:
1 stick of butter
2 T. cinnamon
4 T. sugar
Honey Pecan Cream Cheese
Mix:
1 – 8 oz. block cream cheese, softened
2 T. honey
1/4 c. chopped pecans
Strawberry Cream Cheese
Mix:
2 – 8 oz. block cream cheese, softened
1 c. strawberries, hulled
2 T. powdered sugar
The Look
I always get the girls new Valentine’s Day outfits or a dress that we wear for the party and then later on Valentine’s Day we get to wear it too.
