Every state fair we attend I make a B-line to the lemonade stand. There is nothing that compares to that savory big cup of lemonade full of chunky lemons and the absolute best lemonade ever. So throughout the summer I find myself craving this delicious fair treat, so I decided to make my own!
The true star here is marinating those lemon rinds in the sugar for 12 hours. This is the perfect key to success for creating the most perfect lemonade. So if it’s hot where you are or if you are just missing your fair favorite drink of choice, this recipe is for you.
State Fair Lemonade
Ingredients
- 7 Lemons
- 1 1/2 cups Sugar
- 6 cups Cold Water
Instructions
- Wash lemons and peel lemon rinds with a potato peeler. Reserve lemons for later. Add lemon rinds and cover with sugar, stir to combine. Cover and let sit for 12 hours.
- Bring water to a boil. Once water is boiling, remove from heat and add lemon-sugar mixture. Stir and let sugar dissolve for 3-5 minutes.
- Pour through a strainer and back into the same bowl. Discard lemon rind. Let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
- Cut lemons in half and squeeze juice into your pitcher of choice. Pour water mixture into pitcher to combine. Chill for at least two hours and serve over ice!
- Add sliced lemons to your glass for the full fair effect!
I used a retro pitcher and glass set for the extra added vintage effect. Make sure to serve your homemade lemonade over ice and garnish with a few lemon slices for the full fair effect. Enjoy!
