One of my favorite pastimes is finding new uses for vintage items. It can range from using an old bundt pan for a wreath (see it here) or making outdoor lights out of antique insulators, (found here) vintage items have so many creative uses. The Thanksgiving table is no exception, let’s dive into a few unique vintage pieces that can be used to make your Thanksgiving table a glorious gathering.
Kitchen Canisters for Floral Arrangements
Retro kitchen canisters are the perfect set of vessels for your Thanksgiving table. Each set is guaranteed to have four of a kind that all coordinate! Most retro kitchen canister sets come in fun, funky colors and offer such wonderful shapes to highlight your fresh or faux floral. For this arrangement I even added a simple pumpkin to the top of each canister for a fun grouping.
Use an Antique Church Pew for Seating
It always seems like Thanksgiving is the time when you just never have enough chairs for everyone, right? The best solution is to use an antique church pew for your seating option, or really any antique chair or bench. Antique chairs and pews add so much character to the table and they offer a fantastic seating addition to any table.
Use Vintage Pie Plates as your Place Setting
I collect Watkins pie plates and honestly most of them came from garage sales for a whopping $1 a piece. I love trying to collect all of the different pie recipes within them! These are such a unique table setting statement and my jadeite plates fit perfectly inside them. Not only can you stack your food up high, when you are finished you can reveal what pie recipe you have underneath for a great conversation piece!
Fill a Vintage Laundry Basket with Pumpkins
Laundry baskets are not just for laundry anymore! Fill up those adorable laundry baskets or even a crate with faux florals and pumpkins for an eclectic Autumn display. Last year for Thanksgiving I took all of my faux florals and put them in an old crate and the arrangement was spectacular! See below!
I hope your Thanksgiving is full of gratitude, delicious food, and lots of family fun. I can’t wait to see if you use any of these ideas for your Thanksgiving gatherings!
